When I got sober, I was deeply motivated. Just not in the way people usually mean.

I wasn't inspired. I wasn't optimistic. I didn't wake up one morning feeling ready to build a better life. I had reached the point where continuing had become more frightening than stopping.

These are not motivation problems. They are protection problems. The system is doing what it was built to do: assessing whether this particular action is safe, worth the energy, survivable. The answer it keeps arriving at is not yet.
